๐Ÿท๏ธMastering ENS (Ethereum Name Service)

ENS is a core requirement for Phi Land. Here's a collection of how-to's to set up ENS for Phi Land.

Whatโ€™s ENS in the first place?

According to the ENS's official docs,

The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a distributed, open, and extensible naming system based on the Ethereum blockchain. ENS's job is to map human-readable names like 'alice.eth' to machine-readable identifiers such as Ethereum addresses, other cryptocurrency addresses, content hashes, and metadata.

To explain more easily, ENS maps the long public address of crypto users are familiar with and replaces it with a simple name that is easy to read and easy to remember. Something cumbersome like, โ€œ0xDC25EF3F5B8A186998338A2ADA83795FBA2D695Eโ€ becomes as simple as โ€œAlice.eth.โ€

Ethereum Name Service is a blockchain equivalent to Domain Name System (DNS) that assigns addresses on the internet. ENS translates cumbersome Ethereum addresses comprising random numbers and letters into memorable names.

Note: 'ENS Domain Name', 'ENS Name', 'Ethereum Name' are interchangeable terms!

Some may even ask for your ".eth" which is the equivalent of an ENS name.
